Born in Baghdad and raised on a Georgia farm, Atlanta comedian Gilbert Lawand likes to complicate preconceived notions about the classic American immigrant story — and he does so with candor and hilarity.
Lawand has long been a beloved fixture in East Atlanta Village, known for hosting the annual Red Clay Comedy Festival and performing on local stand-up stages for nearly two decades.
The veteran comedian’s first full-length special, “Iraqi Born, Georgia Bred,” is out now on Apple TV+ and was filmed at The EARL.
